Employers urged to champion better work for all

The Taylor Review of Modern Working Practices was launched last week and called on the UK Government to focus on creating jobs that are better not just creating jobs. It’s great news that good quality work is getting more attention and taking a higher priority. It certainly makes good business sense and will surely pay off for forward thinking businesses that embrace the challenge. We all welcome this commitment to creating better jobs and look forward to seeing how this is translated into reality. The CIPD will be bringing out a new professional standards framework to help ensure that HR focusses on the quality of work. We believe that work should provide us all with the opportunity to fulfil our own needs and potential in ways that adapt to our personal situations. We look forward to seeing the new CIPD framework and working with the HR community to encourage this exciting change of focus. There will no doubt be some changes to CIPD qualifications as a result and to address all this. What do you think? We look forward to discussing what you are doing within your organisation to create better quality jobs for all.
