Ways to pay
- Pay upfront by card or ask us for an invoice (ideal for employer-funded learners).
- Monthly payment plans for self-funding learners – pay an initial £500, then spread the rest monthly.
- Pay per unit – start with a taster unit, then top up via “Pay No More” or keep paying as you go.
- Bursary places are sometimes available for eligible learners via the CIPD Trust – we offer a £500 discount.
Other costs to budget for
- CIPD student membership – paid directly to the CIPD. Currently £40 joining fee plus £98 a year.
- Books – most learners benefit from buying at least one course book. Your coach will suggest titles.
- Optional top-ups – add extra support to CIPD Pro (Light) or CIPD Boost at any time if you need it.

How much does a CIPD qualification cost?
With AheadHR, the full CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate costs from £2,000 inc VAT, the Level 5 Associate Diploma from £2,480 inc VAT and the Level 7 Advanced Diploma from £4,940 inc VAT. Prices depend on the level of support you choose.
Can I pay for my CIPD course monthly?
Yes. Self-funding learners can pay an initial £500 and then spread the balance in monthly instalments – for example, £125 a month for Level 3, from £125 a month for Level 5 and from £155 a month for Level 7. Monthly plans add up to the same total as paying upfront.
What is the difference between CIPD Pro (Light) and CIPD Boost?
CIPD Pro (Light) is a self-paced option with live online webinars or recordings. CIPD Boost adds longer learning contracts, free fast-track planning, extra CPD sessions and our AheadConnect community. Boost with coaching also includes full one-to-one coaching and feedback on your formative work on every unit.
Can I try a single CIPD unit before committing?
Yes. A CIPD Taster lets you study one unit on any topic – £500 inc VAT at Level 3 or Level 5, or £950 + VAT at Level 7. You can then top up to the full qualification via “Pay No More” or continue paying per unit.
Do I need to pay CIPD membership on top of the course fee?
Yes. All learners need to join the CIPD as a student member. The CIPD currently charges a £40 joining fee plus £98 a year, paid directly to the CIPD.
Is there any funding or discount available?
Bursary places are sometimes available for eligible learners through the CIPD Trust, and we offer a £500 discount to bursary recipients. Read more about funding your CIPD programme or ask about CIPD apprenticeships.
Can my employer pay for my CIPD course?
Yes. We can issue an invoice to your employer for the full programme fee. Just let us know when you enrol or contact us.
