We get asked quite a bit about our pass rates so we thought it was about time that we share a little more information about our CIPD pass rates.

Many of the CIPD study centres will tell you about their pass rates and it is great to see some high figures out there and of course the CIPD moderation process is there to help maintain high standards and consistency.   As you will have noticed there are a variety of approaches to delivering the CIPD qualifications and the outcomes for learners will vary depending on your study method and the amount of support that you pay for so it’s a good idea to bear that in mind as well when you look at pass rates.

I guess it’s down to what you want to achieve with your CIPD qualification.  Is it enough for you to pass the assignments to achieve your CIPD qualification and do the bare minimum?  Or would you like to really learn and develop?  We like to think of ourselves as a premium provider and we love learners who want to learn – that’s what our CIPD Boost programme is there to provide.  We do of course have our CIPD Light support package for those on a tighter budget who like our approach as we’d rather you come and self study with us and know we are there for you and our community is available to support you if you need more support – we really don’t want to see any CIPD learners struggling and asking for help on the social media chats and there should be no need to do that if you study with AheadHR.

I guess we don’t suit every CIPD student and in fact we sometimes will advise learners to go to another centre.  If you want to pass that’s fine but we’d also like you to challenge yourself and go for higher grades if you can.  We really want you to learn and develop throughout your programme.

We believe that as long as you choose the right level, the right support package, put in the effort and follow our guidance, that you will pass.  We analysed our pass rates from the start of the new qualifications recently and we are pleased to see that we are up there in the 90% range for all levels which we are delighted about.  And on the Advanced programme where you can go for Merits and Distinctions we are also doing really well with over a third of our pass rates in the higher grades at Level 7.

Of course statistics are just numbers and it depends on your view and how numbers are compiled.  For example what is the pass rate for first assignment submissions?  Are all learners taking 3 attempts or do many pass first time with high grades?  What is the learner dropout rate?

Our figures include where learners have failed a unit.  In actual fact those learners will generally go on and do a resit and pass.  So does that mean we should say 100%?  We don’t think so as we think 100% would not give the full picture about pass rates.

This is what our pass rates look like – we’re pretty pleased with these figures.  Of course we would love to be able to tell you that every learner has passed every unit on their first submission with the highest possible grade but I guess we’ll carry on working on that and there are a number of factors ourside of our control.

Let us know if you’d like to explore your CIPD options so that you can achieve your qualification – and how you can do and develop your career and grow your confidence – without using the maximum number of resubmissions on every unit.
